From the title, I think most people already know what’s going on here. 🙂

For those of you in the dark: there’s a (fairly) new, immensely popular mobile app out in the etherspace called “Trivia Crack”. Essentially, you compete against another person by answering trivia questions in different categories. Honestly, it’s a lot of fun…

…with a sometimes interesting, always entertaining, caveat

To add more joy to the mix, the game designers let people submit trivia questions. Apparently, their approval process isn’t very strict, because some of the questions that pop-up are world-class janky! These are some I’ve actually been given:

1. Which of these is not a tree?

  • Oak
  • Pine
  • Birch
  • A Tulip

Cody’s Commentary(TM)
Hmmmmm…. Can I phone a friend for this one?

2. What does the A symbolize in The Scarlet Letter?

  • Misfit
  • Thief
  • Cheater
  • Adultery

Cody’s Commentary
When you’re given a question about a specific letter, perhaps more than one choice should contain that letter, no? Also, I’m not sure, but if my high school literature serves me correctly, the actual meaning of the letter A has been debated for years and years. I’m right about that, aren’t I? People don’t actually know the exact meaning of the letter, right? If so, I’m glad Trivia Crack could step up and clarify it for everyone. If I’m wrong….everyone look over there!!!

3. Which sport did Babe Ruth play?

Cody’s Commentary
Yeah… I don’t even have to list the options here. I think if you asked everyone in the world “Who is Jesus?” and “Who is Babe Ruth?”, more people might know who Babe Ruth is. This question may as well have been: “What sport did baseball player Babe Ruth play?”

4. What is inside a tennis ball?

  • Water
  • Rocks
  • Tar
  • Air

Cody’s Commentary
This question brought me so much joy because it’s a classic case of “Let’s throw out only 1 choice that actually makes sense”. If the choices were, say, “rubber” or “foam”, I might have second-guessed myself. But something tells me Wilson doesn’t dump piles of rocks into its products.

5. Who was the lead in the movie Edwards Scissors Hands.

Cody’s Commentary
Yep, you read that correctly. Edwards Scissors Hands. I can’t help but imagine a know-it-all thirteen year old saying, “Edwards Scissors Hands is, like, totes my favorite movie!” Her best friend, Brittney, slaps her arm and says, “Like totally! You’re awesome ‘cuz you’re retro.” She perks up. “You know what you should do? Submit a question!” Then they both clap and giggle until a gigantic pillow fight ensues.

6. This one has a pic, so let’s show a screenshot:

Morgan Freeman - Trivia Crack

Cody’s Commentary
What cracks me up about this is the fact that the choices are such prolific figures. It would be like showing a picture of Pamela Anderson and being given the options “Betsy Ross”, “Eleanor Roosevelt”, and “Sandra Day O’Connor”.

What’s even funnier about the last one is that Morgan Freeman played Nelson Mandela in a movie. If you were an alien, suffered from a developmental disability, or honestly believed that giant robots from space once came down and destroyed one of our cities because you saw it in that “Transformers” documentary… you might get fooled by that one.
