Hi you!

OK I know, last week, I said I was going to be doing more frequent, smaller updates. And, considering it’s been a week, I haven’t. My apologies! It’s been a very, very busy week. For one, we finalized our move to Phoenix (yay!!). For two…well, I can’t talk about it just yet. But it’s something pretty decent! I’ll share it with you in the next week or two.

All righty, let’s get to the post:

Enjoying the Area

(NOTE: This was written just before the move)

For this post, we are gonna rename the section “Enjoying the Area… As Homeless Nomads.” Here’s why:

Overall, things are progressing nicely. We have a place in Phoenix. The house here in Page is rented out. Everything has been moved.

Sounds pretty good, right? Then what’s the problem?

Well, Windy and I will be in Page for another week as she finishes up at her job. And, if go back a few sentences, you’ll notice the house in Page has already been rented.

Um, yeah… We didn’t expect it to rent out so fast (the FIRST people to look at it said they wanted it, and they told us literally 10 minutes after leaving the showing). Apparently the buying market is poo poo, but the leasing market is insane. The realtor told us he has more customers than houses.

So now we are homeless in Page, and have been for the last week. And we’re getting to be experts at it!

With that said, I wanted to share “The homeless person’s FAQ”:

So where do you live?
Fortunately, friends in town have been gracious enough to offer us a place to stay. Therefore, we are rotating houses every several days. Currently, we are at Windy’s boss’s house as she’s out of town for spring break. Then we’ll be at Windy’s coworker’s house for a few days.

Then where do you sleep?
Anywhere we can find. When we move on to our next house, we’ll be in Windy’s coworker’s daughter’s bed. That’s right! Sadly, it’s way more comfortable than my own.

Wait! That sounds bad, LOL!! Before anyone asks, “Cody, how do you know her coworker’s daughter’s bed is comfortable?” let me tackle that now: that’s where we stayed a few days ago.

What do you eat?
Anything we can find. Last week, our hosts dropped a piece of cheese on the floor and I dove for it before anyone could pick it up. That effectively made it mine, and I wiped off the dog hair and cockroach feces before throwing it in my mouth.

OK that might be a hair exaggerated (pun intended!). Honestly, I thought it would be like Omaha, where we did fast food every night. Fortunately, people have been awesome and provided home cooked meals. I’ve seriously gained a few pounds.

Where do you write?
Anywhere I can find. Currently, I’m on a table in Windy’s boss’s craft room, LOL! But don’t feel sorry for me. It’s pretty amazing.

Does it suck?
Ummmmmm, it’s got its plusses and minuses. More than anything, we feel bad for imposing on people, although they really don’t seem to mind. Other than that, it’s OK.
